As a travel photographer, I take most of my photos when I travel. I enjoy capturing urban cities to mighty mountains. Over time, I have built a large collection of photos from different trips. I now have tonnes of images sitting in my library, still waiting to be shared.
One of the biggest challenges I face is the changing trends on Instagram. A few years ago, posting a single photo was enough. Today, the platform focuses more on reels, videos, and fast-paced content. Because of this, I often feel unsure about how my travel photos fit into the current trend.
Since I mainly shoot while travelling, I don’t always have new content ready to post all the time. There can be long gaps between trips, which means fewer new photos. Because of this, it becomes harder to stay consistent with posting, even though I have many older photos that I could still share.
Travel photography usually means a large number of photos—sometimes hundreds or even thousands. Going through them, selecting the best ones, and editing them properly takes a lot of time. Because of this, I often delay posting and keep putting it off.
In the end, I realize that I am holding back many valuable photos. These photos are not just images—they are my captures from my travels and experiences. This is where I continue to learn the craft.
The biggest lesson I am learning is this: it is better to share my work than to wait for the perfect time. Trends will keep changing, but the photos still have meaning, no matter when they were taken.
